    UIS does not require new Transfer & Grad students to attend orientation, but it is strongly encouraged. Students who have attended really appreciated the opportunity to Take Care of Business and become more acquainted with campus. Students and staff will be on site to assist you and answer any questions.

    You are cordially invited to join fellow members of the UIS community in celebrating the opening of a new academic year. Chancellor Koch will offer the Convocation address, and new faculty and senior administrative appointees will be introduced. The formal program begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom, and a get-acquainted reception will follow.

    Stop by for some DIY fun. We’ll be making flower pens, pillows, and more to accessorize your body, decorate your room, and showcase your unique style. Leave with your original creations, an info card about the Career Pathfinder program, and a sweet treat. FREE-all supplies provided! Optional Launch Week program.

If they do not already have a resume or cover letter, they can build one using an online tool called OptimalResume. Also, students can get help with using CareerConnect to find internship and job opportunities.

    A campus tradition, the Chancellor welcomes the students, faculty and staff to another academic year with a picnic sponsored by Welcome Week and Student Life. All are welcome to come and socialize with each other and celebrate the start to a great year.
