    Mattias Frihammar, Lars Kaijser and Maja Lagerqvist, all from Stockholm University, are currently developing a research project on so-called “invasive species.” When there are no so-called natural enemies in the new environment, invasive species can massively expand. For their example they are working on the flower, lupine, which is regarded as invasive.

    This presentation will discuss the different ways that the public aquariums engage the visitors in this effort. Dr. Lars Kaijser of Stockholm University will argue for an understanding of their engagement through the concepts of banal sustainability and domestication. He will also discuss how this encompasses an aesthetization of the problems of plastic waste.
