Overview of the Nano Nuclear Energy Kronos MMR

Abstract: Nano Nuclear Energy, Inc. is a fast-growing nuclear technology company focused on rapid deployment of small, safe, and sustainable advanced nuclear reactors. Nano is proud to partner with the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign to demonstrate its Kronos-MMR high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. This seminar will cover the Kronos design, target applications, innovative features, and safety performance. The presentation will also include an overview of the UIUC demonstration project as well as the plans for Nano’s new Chicago-area engineering headquarters.

Bio: Milos is a nuclear engineer at Nano Nuclear Energy, Inc., where he leads the Thermal Hydraulics and Safety Analysis Group. His work spans the design, engineering, and licensing of Nano’s reactors, focusing on the Kronos-MMR gas-cooled reactor. Before joining Nano, Milos was a nuclear engineer at USNC and Argonne National Laboratory. At USNC, he was part of the team that redesigned the Kronos-MMR to improve its commercial viability. At Argonne, he developed fast reactor thermal-hydraulics software, worked on Versatile Test Reactor, and served as lab lead for a DOE program. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut and his M.S. and PhD in nuclear engineering from UC Berkeley.
