Join GWS for our ongoing brown bag lecture series! Dr. Emi Frerichs will share their work in progress, "Puentes Monstruosos: Transhemispheric Coalitions and the Aesthetics of Survival." Building on the hemispheric feminist legacies of This Bridge Called My Back, this talk traces the dispersed genealogies of trans, travesti, and trans of color writers across the Americas—including Camila Sosa Villada, Lino Arruda, Roque Raquel Salas Rivera, Torrey Peters, and Nathaniel Alexander Moore—who reimagine monstrosity as a poetic and political strategy of survival. Reading across languages, genres, and regimes, the project explores how their works collectively forge a transhemispheric aesthetic of relation that unsettles authoritarian and colonial orders.
All are welcome!
