Social workers make key decisions that affect client lives in sometimes profound ways. Social workers, like any other professionals, are also human, and have ended up “buying into” misinformation, stereotypes and other messages that can bias decisions affecting clients—but also colleagues and others. Real strides have been made to identify ways we can reduce the level of unconscious bias. In the spirit of evidence-based practice, this workshop will help social workers explore the science of interrupting unconscious bias—what works and what doesn't.

Presenter: Joe Minarik, MSW, MPP, PhD
Assistant Professor Educator | University of Cincinnati School of Social Work
