What does the return of tariffs mean for the liberal international order? This interdisciplinary conference examines trade policy as a meeting point of economics, politics, and history. Bringing Atlantic and Pacific perspectives into conversation, it explores how tariffs shape international cooperation, economic sovereignty, and geopolitical competition—and asks whether current disputes mark a rupture with the past or a new chapter in longstanding tensions over markets and state power.
This free event brings together global perspectives through two days of presentations and roundtable discussions at the Alliance Française in Chicago, IL.
