As environmental DNA (eDNA) research in aquatic systems continues to expand and provide high resolution ecological data, so too do its applications for terrestrial research. In this talk I will discuss my research into two novel utilizations for terrestrial eDNA, including airborne eDNA analysis for the detection of terrestrial plants and animals and residual arthropod eDNA collection from flowering species. These topics highlight the vast ecological potential that can be gained by expanding eDNA research into terrestrial systems.
