Meeting ID: 873 6091 3268 | Password: 742891Wolf management is a classic wicked problem, where diverse interest groups possess competing values and preferences for policy solutions. In anticipation of the federal delisting of wolves, Minnesota began a process to update its 2001 wolf management plan in 2019. Part of this process involved surveying wolf stakeholders to understand their perspectives on wolves, and preferences for wolf management. In this presentation, I will give an overview of the public engagement processes surrounding the Minnesota wolf management plan update, and discuss the myriad social psychological factors underlying diverse stakeholders’ preferences for wolf policy, especially as it pertains to the issue of wolf hunting and trapping.
