UIUC Faculty Professional Development Grants 2024-25
Deadline: January 15, 2025
The European Union Center welcomes applications for EUC Professional Development Grants to support conference or workshop travel. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign faculty may submit proposals related to conference presentations or workshops that offer training directly relevant to their teaching and research at the university. The EU Center can provide funding of up to $500 for domestic conference/workshop expenses and up to $1,000 for international conference/workshop expenses, with the stipulation that it be completed by August 15, 2025. We expect to offer multiple awards in each category, depending in part on the individual amounts requested and awarded. This professional development grant is funded by our multi-year U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant.
Preference will be given to applicants who have not received a grant from the EU Center before, whose particular projects involve an interest in European/EU studies, who are junior faculty or at early stages in their career, and who can demonstrate lack of other sources for the proposed professional development. Topics of relevance to European or EU studies range widely from climate change, health sciences, and business, to the cultures, languages, and institutions of Europe. We particularly encourage applicants to consider ways in which their participation in this activity could contribute to the promotion of diversity, inclusion, and equity in teaching and research about Europe at the University of Illinois.
Professional development grant recipients will be invited to present a brown bag talk in the EUC lecture series or share their research in other ways with the EUC community.
