Dogman (2019)
Marcello is a mild-mannered dog groomer who commits petty crimes for Simoncino, a former boxer who terrorizes the neighborhood. When Simoncino's abuse brings Marcello to the breaking point, he finally decides to take matters into his own hands. Based on a true story, the plot of Dogman is inspired by the real-life case of Er Canaro ("the dog keeper”), a pet groomer and drug addict who, in 1988, murdered one of his criminal acquaintances in his Rome salon. Directed by Matteo Garrone, the film also received the award for best actor at Cannes for Marcello Fonte’s performance.
