Dr. Tara Nair is a professor at the Gujarat Institute of Development Research, Ahmedabad, India. Trained in economics and development studies, Dr. Nair's engagement with media studies has been informed by her interest in understanding media industry, especially print news media industry, as an intersectional site of material and ideological persuasions. Dr. Nair's doctoral work on Indian newspaper industry was one of the pioneering efforts in this direction. She is currently engaged in a study of the women film workers collective in the south Indian cinema with a view to explore the challenges of crafting feminist politics in a misogynistic cultural production sphere, and in an era of post-feminism. She has taught media economics in one of the leading communication management institutes in India.
