The ACES Faculty-Led Program, Cultural Immersion and Community Life in Ghana, is a research-based study abroad program offered through UIUC, and is one example of how to teach family theories while providing scaffolding for students to explore their own identities. During the summer of 2018, Associate Professor Christy Lleras and Ph.D. Student LaKisha David took nine UIUC students to Ghana, enabling the group to explore and appreciate Ghana, research, and diverse identities through program components.
