Under the global development of grassroots activity and media, how can cultural anthropology fieldwork and social practice be incorporated into university education and developed as an active learning method that cultivates students’ abilities to express themselves, cooperate, and communicate ideas based on their own locality, but in a global context? In this presentation, I will introduce a media practice class at Konan University at Kobe, Japan that was carried out in cooperation with WRFU, a community radio station in Urbana, USA.
Dr. Mugiko Nishikawa is Professor of Cultural Anthropology in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Literature at Konan University, Kobe, Japan. She has been the host of Harukana Show, a Japanese language radio show from WRFU since 2011.
