With rapid economic growth and increased wellbeing over the past four decades, income inequality in China has deteriorated. While many researchers have studied income inequality in China, research addressing health inequality has been scanty. Using the 2013 and 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study data, we study self-assessed health  among people aged 45 and over, and analyze the factors influencing their subjective health. We first applied generalized ordered logit model to analyze how income, education, gender, age, marriage status, sleep time, and region affect health. Based on the results from the generalized ordered logit model, we estimated health inequality among these middle-aged and elderly Chinese.
