“The Global Center for Species Survival is a relatively new partnership between the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission (SSC) and the Indianapolis Zoo. The remit of the Global Center is to support and connect thousands of conservation experts working to secure a future for animals, fungi and plants in more than 160 countries. With a team of coordinators focusing on different taxonomic and system remits, including freshwater, the Global Center is aiming to push forward conservation planning and action for species. I’ll give an overview of the Global Center, the IUCN SSC, and highlight some of the Global Center’s work – past, present and future - especially from a freshwater (and invertebrate) perspective.”
