Young people come to Cunningham after experiencing abuse, neglect, trauma, and loss. At Cunningham, they find healing, hope, and a sense of belonging. Each youth is welcomed with a basket of essentials and a handmade quilt—part of a tradition dating back to 1895, when United Women in Faith and Illinois quilters began creating quilts to provide comfort, warmth, and love.
This tradition is celebrated each year at the Festival of Quilts, Cunningham’s signature fundraiser. The event supports nearly 1,000 youth and families served annually.
The Festival features a quilt show, quilt sale, handcrafted goods, a bake sale, decorative items for purchase, and campus tours—offering something for everyone while honoring a legacy of care.
