WORKSHOP SUMMARY
Beyond the Textbook: Teaching the Middle East Through Global Citizenship is a hands-on professional development workshop designed for K-16 educators. This interactive workshop includes numerous sessions that combine digital tools, primary sources, personal stories beyond the biographies, and authentic cultural experiences to bring the Middle East to the classroom. Participants will explore virtual resources, maps, and multimedia content to incorporate in their own pedagogies. The workshop will also include food, crafts, and music to highlight the region’s diversity. The participants will leave with practical strategies and ready-to-use lesson plans that foster global awareness and cultural understanding.
