Students will gain knowledge on the history and importance of the city of Springfield, IL while being prompted to connect learning materials / activities with their personal lives in the present day. Students will visit several historic museums and sites in the Springfield-area dedicated to educating the public on Illinois state history. Students will engage with their peers and a University of Illinois alum-tour-guide about the presented information. Students will learn about the Residential Inclusion and Leadership Education (I&L) team and upcoming engagement opportunities from dialogue with the I&L Mentors. Sites include the Illinois State Capitol and the Lincoln Presidential Museum.
