The audience will gain knowledge on the history and importance of the card game Spades in the African American community while being connecting the learning materials / activities with their personal lives in the present day. Participants will be able to physically play the card game Spades alongside experienced I&L Mentors while learning how to tally points for scoring. The audience will learn about the Residential Inclusion and Leadership Education (I&L) team from pamphlets, handouts, and dialogue with the I&L Mentors. The audience will be encouraged to socially interact with the Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center to explore cross-cultural experiences for themselves both inside and outside of Residence Halls.
