A new campus composting initiative starts Friday, Sept. 4! Collect your food scraps, coffee grounds, and other organic waste at home each week and bring them to the compost collection site at the Illini Union.
- 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays through the fall semester
- Anniversary Plaza (Quad side of the Illini Union)
Everyone is welcome to participate or stop by to talk with our student EcoReps about composting! This pilot project is open to all members of the campus community.
Composting is an eco-friendly way to dispose of organic waste, which can be used as fertilizer to support soil health. And diverting organic waste from landfills avoids greenhouse gas emissions.
