Graduate College Events for Graduate Students & Postdocs
This summer, the Graduate College Office of External Fellowships will host a seven‑week writing lab to support students preparing competitive applications for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF‑GRFP).

Participants will engage in:
  • workshops on writing effective Personal Statements and Graduate Research Plans for the NSF‑GRFP,
  • guided writing and revision exercises,
  • and structured peer review designed to help students develop clear, compelling narratives.

Mandatory virtual lab meetings will be held weekly on Wednesdays from 3–5 PM, June 17 through July 29, via Zoom. Participants should expect to spend approximately 5–10 hours per week on independent writing and revision. Students who participate fully in the lab will leave with a full draft of the NSF‑GRFP Personal Statement, a draft or expanded framework for a Graduate Research Plan, an understanding of NSF review criteria, and writing processes for future fellowship applications.

The writing lab is open to incoming first‑year graduate students and undergraduate seniors in NSF‑eligible STEM, social science, and STEM education fields.

Eligibility for the NSF‑GRFP is limited to U.S. citizens, nationals, and permanent residents.

Register by Sunday, June 7!
