Join us in making Illinois game days greener by helping fans recycle at Memorial Stadium! Volunteers will hand out blue bags, guide fans on what’s recyclable, and collect bags at our Lot 31 recycling station. It’s a fun way to support sustainability, connect with fans, and keep thousands of pounds of cans and bottles out of the landfill.
This year we will be featuring the Zero Waste Station, a new mobile recycling collection system! Volunteers and Zero Waste reps will be driving it through the tailgate area to collect recyclables from fans. This highly visible setup is designed to make recycling easier and encourage more fans to participate in our zero waste efforts.
Even if you’re not able to volunteer, you can still make a big difference! We’re asking tailgaters to help spread awareness and support recycling efforts by reminding their group how to sort recyclables and where to bring them. Every small action brings us closer to a zero waste game day.
Volunteers are welcome from both the U. of I. community and beyond! If you’re interested, please fill out this volunteer sign-up form >>>
