Medical Humanities Lecture sponsored by Daniel Shin (LAS ’91).
For almost eighty years, the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University has served as the leading voice and a trusted home for both scientific research and historical preservation on human sexuality and relationships, for scholars and experts from all over the world. When the then-named Institute for Sex Research was founded in 1947, the cultural climate in the United States was marked by restrictive legal and social norms around relationships and sexuality. This talk will highlight the Kinsey Institute’s founding and multi-disciplinary history, continued cultural impact, current research program, and reflect on the ways in which today’s social and political climate presents new challenges for multi-disciplinary sex research.
