Graduate Programs – Research Poster Competition February 24, 2025

Attention University of Illinois Aerospace Engineering graduate students!

You are invited to take part in the Department of Aerospace Engineering’s Graduate Student Poster Competition. This is a great opportunity for you to showcase your work and research to your fellow students and faculty members and gain experience with presenting this research professionally and effectively. This is especially important for those of you who wish to present at a conference in the future.

Timeline/Deadlines

  • January 31, 2025 – Deadline for submission of name/title HERE
  • February 14, 2025 – Deadline for submission of poster in BOX


PLEASE NOTE: The Department will not be printing the posters this year. You will need to work with your advisor to order and print. Foam backing and easels will be provided by the department. We recommend printing at the Beckman Institute.



Please note: Deadlines are firm. Program planning and rubrics are contingent upon posters being submitted to BOX by the above deadlines.

 Eligibility

  • Must be an AE graduate student conducting research and in good standing.
  • Posters based on research conducted by the graduate student.
  • Poster presentations may contain information that has been presented at another meeting.
  • Only one poster per participant.
  • Past winners may participate, however, must not use the same poster.


Guidelines

  • Submitted to the Graduate Programs Office (via BOX) no later than Monday, February 14, 2025
  • A guide with instructions, examples, and guidelines for posters can be found here you may find some examples here.


Three questions to ask yourself when designing a poster

What is the most important/interesting/astounding finding from my research project?
How can I visually share my research with attendees? Should I use charts, graphs, photos, images?
What kind of information can I convey during my lightning talk that will complement my poster?

Judges

  • Faculty member/s from each research area will judge Best Overall, Best Oral Delivery, Best Technical Accomplishment, Best Visual Presentation

Evaluation/Criteria

  • Best Overall poster
  • Best Oral Delivery of poster content
  • Best Technical Accomplishment
  • Best Visual Presentation of research

Awards

  • Best Overall - $500
  • Best Oral Delivery of poster content - $200
  • Best Technical Accomplishment - $200
  • Best Visual Presentation of research - $200
