The image shows a young child wearing a yellow shirt and gray pants crouching in a sandy outdoor area, playing with a toy shovel and small objects. Bright green foliage in the background suggests a natural setting. Overlaid text reads "Community seminar series" in bold white font. The design is framed with dark blue curved borders at the top left and bottom right.

Did you know a child's early environment and relationships shape their ability to focus, manage emotions, and solve problems? Join us for an interactive session with Dr. Samantha Iwinski to explore how household dynamics, green space access, and parent-child interactions impact executive function and learn practical strategies to foster healthy development and create a supportive environment.

Iwinski is a Visiting Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Human Development & Family Studies. Her research interests include parent-child relationships, attachment, executive function, household environment, and access.

A partnership between the Illinois Extension and the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute, the Community Seminar Series provides educational seminars of interest to the community each fall, spring, and summer, delivered virtually by graduate students and postdoctoral research trainees. The Community Seminar Series covers health topics driven by public interest, helping attendees make healthier choices and overcome public health misinformation.

CEUs through the Continuing Education Institute of Illinois (CEII) are available.
