"El Salvador’s Misogynistic Security State" – A Talk by Elizabeth Kennedy, Ph.D.
2024-2026 Soros Justice Fellow
Join us for a talk examining the gendered impacts of El Salvador’s militarized security policies. Drawing from 11 years of research and a published NACLA article, this discussion will explore how state security forces evade accountability for sexual and gender-based violence, particularly under President Nayib Bukele’s ongoing state of exception. The talk will highlight perspectives from girls, women, journalists, social service providers, and asylum seekers affected by these policies.
