Cotton Club was one of the most famous nightclubs during the 1920s and 30s. It started in 1920 on Lenox Avenue in New York’s Harlem District as the Club Deluxe and was renamed Cotton Club in 1922. It was THE destination for numerous African American musicians and performers. At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Cotton Club is an annual event that mirrors the club that opened in 1920 to highlight the Black talent on this campus. This years Variety Show theme is Illini'n Out.
