Join Aerospace Engineering as we welcome 2023 Distinguished Alumni Recipient Richard Mange. Dr. Mange is the F-35 Chief Engineer at Lockheed Martin. In this one hour session, he will give a presentation about his career, highlighting his work on the F-35 program and how his education impacted his professional trajectory.

You are welcome to bring your lunch to this presentation. Light refreshments will be served.

About the speaker:

Dr. Mange holds BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). His 36 Year Career in the Aerospace Industry including 11 Years at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in St. Louis and 25 Years at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth.  Dr. Mange has held a wide variety of positions mostly on high-performance Fighter Aircraft Programs, including Aerodynamics, Flight Mechanics, Stability & Control and Systems Engineering.  Most recently he spent 8 years as the STOVL Aerodynamics Lead on the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, 3 years as the Ship Captain for the first F35 STOVL Aircraft (BF-1), and 5 years as the Program Manager for the Production Non-Recurring Effort on the F-35 Low Rate Initial Production Program. Since 2016, Dr. Mange has served in the F-35 Chief Engineer’s Office, first has Deputy CE and currently as the F-35 Chief Engineer, responsible for ensuring the safety, airworthiness and technical integrity of all F-35 Engineering products.
