In January, the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects will launch the first phase of a project to modernize IRB oversight and submission processes, in preparation for the implementation of an electronic IRB system in 2023. The first step in this project is to revise the forms that investigators submit to the OPRS for IRB review.
What can campus investigators expect?
- New forms will be available on the OPRS website in mid-January.
- Investigators are encouraged to download the new forms as soon as they are available.
- Old forms will be accepted through January 31.
- The new forms will be tightly aligned with federal regulations, expediting the IRB approval process and minimizing follow-up conversations.
OPRS will host two Zoom sessions in January to walk through changes with investigators and to answer questions. You can register for a session at the links below.
