The Center for Social and Behavioral Science (CSBS) recently announced their work with Illinois Profs. Kelley Lemon, Merin Oleschuk, and Bobby J. Smith to launch the Food Security Working Group (FSWG), a campus-wide initiative to support researchers in the food security space. This semester, CSBS will host a series of events around this important topic. The tentative agenda for the first event, a Meet & Greet open to Illinois faculty, staff, and students interested in food security, is now available:

TENTATIVE AGENDA

  • 1:00-1:15 p.m. | Sign-in & Welcome
  • 1:15-2:00 p.m. | Keynote and Overview of Food Security
Kim Kidwell, Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships & Initiatives
  • 2:00-3:00 p.m. | Teaching Resources for Food Security Researchers
  • 3:00-4:00 p.m. | Funding and Community Engagement for Food Security Researchers
  • 4:00-5:00 p.m. | Reception

We invite you to join the working group and register for the Meet & Greet. CSBS has planned additional opportunities for the Food Security Working Group to further connect in March for two Lunch & Learn Sessions:

FSWG Lunch & Learn Session 1
Siebel Center for Design | Starlight Room
March 3 | Noon

FSWG Lunch & Learn Session 2
Siebel Center for Design | Starlight Room
March 31 | Noon

Stay tuned for more information about the Lunch & Learn Sessions, including the agendas. As a reminder, researchers that are not currently focused on this work but interested in exploring or getting connected to food security research are encouraged to attend. Please share this information with colleagues who may be interested in participating.
