The Three Caballeros (1944)
Dir. Norman Ferguson, Clyde Geronimi, Jack Kinney, Bill Roberts, Harold Young | G | Adventure, Animation
A large box arrives for Donald on his birthday, three gifts inside. He unwraps one at a time—a projector with a film about the birds of South America, a pop-up book about Brazil, and a piñata, and each takes him on an adventure south of the border. This Disney movie is significant because of its explicit diplomatic intent during the Good Neighbor years and for circulating what have turned out to be enduring stereotypes about Latin Americans and Latinx.
