AE is excited to introduce a new program designed to help foster alumni connections. This quarterly virtual event will feature AE alums showcasing the projects or new technologies they work on. Following the lightning talk presentations we'll have Q&A and an opportunity to catch up with other alums on the meeting. The first networking event will be held on Tuesday, February 8 at 7pm. Featured alumni include:

Paul Dees (BS '81, MS '83) - Transonic Truss-Braced Wing
Paul Dees is a Boeing Technical Fellow in Commercial Airplanes Product Development, which means he is forever trying to improve on the classic tube and wing jet airliner. He began his career at Northrop and McDonnell Aircraft in aerodynamics before coming to Boeing, where he has worked on every 700 series airplane in either aerodynamics or as a configurator. His current assignment is on the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing, which could become an X-Plane with NASA. Paul also developed and co-teaches several aircraft design classes at Boeing. He and his wife live in the Seattle area and he enjoys way too many hobbies.

Rick Zelenka (BS '87) - Drone Traffic
Drone Traffic has developed an aviation safety system to warn manned aircraft of hazardous drones. There are over 100 incidents per month of drones operating in unauthorized airspace, and there have been over a dozen documented collisions between drones and manned aircraft. Key elements of the drone safety system have been flight tested. The system has received NASA funding and holds four issued US patents.

Cassie Dickey (BS '18)- ISS Flight Controller
Cassandra Dickey lives in Houston, TX where she works as a KBR-employed contractor and ISS flight controller at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Prior to moving to Texas, Cassandra worked in Gogo Commercial Aviation’s program management office in Chicago, IL. In her free time, Cassandra enjoys camping, (indoor) bouldering, and reading.

Register now to attend this event and get back in touch with alums you haven't seen for a while.
