The University of Illinois College of Law Leadership Project, in partnership with the Institute of Government and Public Affairs, welcomes former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar for a fireside chat at the College of Law. Governor Edgar served as Illinois' 38th Governor from 1991 to 1999, and previously served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives and as Illinois Secretary of State. During his years of public service, Governor Edgar established a reputation as a strong leader who could reach across the aisle to get things done. Now retired, he has continued his commitment to responsible and responsive government as a distinguished fellow at the University of Illinois' Institute of Government and Public Affairs. He spearheads the Edgar Fellows program, which brings together emerging leaders from all parts of Illinois to foster the statesmanship that will address major challenges across regional, partisan and ethnic lines. During this session, Governor Edgar will share perspectives on leadership and offer suggestions on how the next generation of leaders can make a difference.
