The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (OVCDEI) is pleased to offer a set of trainings for U of I faculty and graduate instructors on creating inclusive classrooms. This session will cover strategies for setting up and maintaining an equitable and welcoming classroom environment. The session will also equip participants with skills needed to lead critical classroom discussions on culture and identity in a manner that values diverse perspectives while also maintaining a respectful environment. Participants will hear from OVCDEI staff as well as fellow faculty and graduate instructors about their strategies for inclusive and engaged instruction. Two different sessions will be offered via Zoom for faculty/staff (Monday, August 17th and Wednesday, August 19th at 10am CST) and graduate students (Thursday, August 20th at 1pm CST). No prior teaching experience is required.
