Campus General Request Event

Mauna Kea Solidarity Group is a new coalition of students and faculty across the sciences and arts who came together to express solidarity with Indigenous Hawaiians, particularly in response to the proposed construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope on the sacred mountain of Mauna Kea.

Our multidisciplinary panel includes Kim Compoc, Ripan Malhi, Sana Saboowala and Amber Leamhnachd. We will begin with presentations by the panel, followed by a participatory segment where audience members will be encouraged to share their opinions about Mauna Kea, as well as their own experiences with colonialism and science here at UIUC.  RSVP much appreciated!

5:30 Refreshments (Tacos by Maize)

6:00 Presentations by Panel

7:15 Participatory Segment

7:45 Solidarity Photo and Commitment to Action
