The discussant is Dr. Luisa-Elena Delgado, Professor of Spanish and Director of the School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics.

Speaker bio: Professor Sala earned her BA in political science from Universitat de Barcelona, and her M.Phil and PhD degrees in political science from Yale University.  She joined the Grinnell faculty in 2008.  She is currently at work on a book project entitled “The Right (Time) to Secede: Why do Nationalist Parties Demand a Referendum of Independence When They Do”.  Sala is a member of the American Political Science Association and the Council for European Studies.
