Abstract: Single-cell ‘omics is rapidly driving us toward a more highly resolved understanding of the brain. In this talk, I will discuss recent preliminary single- cell RNA-Sequencing (scRNASeq) data examining the brain of the western honey bee Apis mellifera. I will cover successes and limitations of this powerful technology, in particular addressing how it can shed light on previous whole-tissue transcriptomic analyses. Finally, I will outline necessary steps toward a full integration of scRNASeq with behavioral neurobiology.
