BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY
National Bike to School Day provides an opportunity for communities across the country to support and encourage students to be more active through walking and bicycling, teach safe bicycling behavior, and encourage drivers to watch for child cyclists and share the road appropriately. In Champaign-Urbana, Bike to School Day has been a successful event with a constant participation over the past seven years. Join us on Wednesday, May 8th 2019!
Last year, we had 64 student from 12 schools signed up for Bike to School Day, and many more participated by going to school on a bike. Volunteers distributed bike locks, C-U Bike Month t-shirts, bike lights, and string bags at participated schools. Westview Elementary had lots of kids biking to school and the bike rack was overflowing. Families joined the fun, too. One Kenwood family bicycled together to school.
