In this thirty minute seminar, Dr. Michelle Chitambar from UIUC’s Office of Technology Management will discuss the many paths for university research to transition from the lab to real-life applications that benefit society more broadly. Topics covered will include case studies of successfully deployed UIUC research, mythbusting of common misconceptions around “commercialization” of research, and an introduction to the spectrum of involvement and reward that PIs and their students can have in this process. Following the presentation will be open time for discussion and questions related to these topics.
