Physics - Institute for Condensed Matter Theory Seminar

The superconductor-insulator transition exhibited by two dimensional disordered thin films is a paradigmatic quantum critical point.  In this talk, I consider the transition accessed by tuning magnetic field.  I discuss a theoretical approach based on fermionized vortices, and discuss several aspects of the transition, including the universal resistance, and dynamical scaling laws as viewed from this perspective.
