Through the African Socrates Curriculum, educators will develop subject content knowledge in various disciplines in reference to Africa. They will learn/acquire information about African archaeology, geography, legal systems, foreign relations, peoples and cultures, food systems, and more. Teachers will learn about challenges in teaching Africa in K-12 schools, strategies, and practices to facilitate student learning and they will craft informative, engaging, interactive lesson plans for a diverse student population. In this way educators will develop subject-specific pedagogical knowledge. This will allow educators to better connect with the new populations of Africans in their classrooms while simultaneously teaching a key area of the world to their students. Students will acquire content knowledge of Africa across subject areas.
