Title: Large format detector arrays and readout electronics for upcoming CMB and far-infrared surveys

Abstract: Millimeter-wave and far-infrared astronomical surveys have revolutionized our understanding of the evolution of the universe through measurements of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) such as PLANCK as well as the formation and evolution of galaxies through far-infrared surveys such as HERSCHEL. Future ground-based, balloon-borne and space-based instruments such as the Simons Observatory, CMB-S4, CCAT, Toltec, EXCLAIM, TIM, PRIMA and FIRSST will provide a large increase in survey mapping speed compared to previous instruments and produce a corresponding increase in scientific data through developments in the technology for large format superconducting detector arrays and readout electronics. I will give an overview of the technology development and examples of key science capabilities from these new surveys.
