Event Description
This session will address the dos and don'ts of building a professional image. Topics will include web presence (personal pages and social media), professional communication skills (email, etc.) and behavior. How to be a good collaborator and citizen, polite and respectful treatment of cultural differences, how to be an advocate or ally when you observe disrespectful behavior.

Dr. Ranjitha KumarAssociate ProfessorUIUC CS
Dr. Ranjitha Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and (by courtesy) the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIUC. She leads the Data Driven Design Group, researching machine learning for effective user experiences and effective user experiences for machine learning. She also serves as the Chief Research Scientist at UserTesting, where she and her team are building solutions for bridging quantitative and qualitative experience testing. Dr. Kumar received her B.S. and Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University. Based on her dissertation work, she co-founded Apropose, Inc., a data-driven design startup backed by Andreessen Horowitz and New Enterprise Associates.
Ross ErlebacherAssistant Vice PresidentCognizant
Ross Erlebacher is an Assistant Vice President with Cognizant - a global technology services provider. He has spent most of his professional career in management and technology consulting, having also worked for Accenture, Deloitte, and a startup consultancy. Ross' work focuses on helping healthcare clients on transformational engagements to help them identify and solve their most critical business problems using technology as an enabler.
Ross holds BS and MS degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as well as an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He serves on a variety of not-for-profit boards and is an active Illinois alum. Ross has called the Chicagoland area home for his entire life. His wife, Susie, is also an Illinois alum.
