SPIN events

Join SPIN and REU INCLUSION students for a virtual poster session on July 31 from 9:00 a.m. – noon CDT via Zoom. SPIN and REU-INCLUSION students will showcase their summer research projects.

Topics of their research range from modeling and predicting spread of COVID-19 to determination of biomarkers for diagnosis of cardiac microvascular disease to building a virtual micro-reactor user facility to looking at causes of gun violence, and many other important scientific discoveries. Our students have a broad range of knowledge and expertise as they come from many majors across campus such as agricultural and biological engineering, chemistry, community health, computer engineering, computer science, physics, statistics, sustainability and creative writing, urban and regional planning to name a few. They have been busy conducting research with NCSA staff and faculty affiliates and participating in joint professional development, networking, and social events, all with a common goal to have a well-balanced and productive summer research experience.

A virtual display of SPIN and REU-INCLUSION student posters on July 30 will preclude the joint SPIN and REU-INCLUSION Poster Session on July 31. The poster page will be available to view on the morning of July 30 at https://go.ncsa.illinois.edu/spin-reu-posters.

The SPIN/REU-INCLUSION Poster Session will have three subsections where student presenters will be in their assigned breakout rooms at their respective times waiting for visitors to join them. Presenters will give a 2-3-minute presentation and discuss their work.

SPIN and REU-INCLUSION poster session schedule:

• Subsection #1: 9:00–9:45 a.m.
• Subsection #2: 10:00–10:45 a.m.
• Subsection #3: 11:00–11:45 a.m.
• Recognition ceremony and closing remarks: 11:45 a.m. – noon
