SARS-CoV-2 is a new strain of coronavirus that has jumped from an animal reservoir to humans in December, 2019. It is currently spreading rapidly worldwide, and we need to be prepared as a group to control potential community transmission. In this self-contained information session, I will explain what we currently know about this coronavirus, how testing for infection is done, how we are back-tracing the path of people-to-people transmissions, and whether we need to worry about the virus mutating into more lethal forms. I will provide useful information about good daily practices that will help reduce community transmission. For those of you who travel frequently, I will also give you some tips on how you can reduce the risk of potential infection inside airplanes.
No background in biology will be needed to understand the talk.
