In this webinar, the presenters will share information with respect to characterizing the experiences and support needs of individuals with IDD and grounding strategies for supporting their career development and employment in their lived experiences and strengths. More specifically, we will provide a brief overview and discussion with respect to: (a) defining IDD and the ways in which disability and employment have evolved over time, (b) relevant considerations for serving this population (e.g., access barriers related to communication, healthcare, behavior), and (c) collaborative employment planning that facilitates individual self-determination, interdependence, and culturally responsive family empowerment.
