This presentation draws from Professor Holland's work in the field of Animal Studies over the last two decades. Much of this work, in the feminist tradition, is about praxis--a living with/being with animal life that situations the doing in the ambiguous place between animal/human, structured by that artful, and awful distinction. This talk will be motivated by a series of perhaps uncomfortable questions that might arise if we take it upon ourselves to think through the human at its most capacious. In this sense, we will explore disciplinary boundaries with a healthy bit of skepticism, and reorient our sense of the animal's history.
