Smith (Chickasaw), a professor at the University of North Texas, titled "Red Power, Black Power: Vine Deloria, Derrick Bell, and the Critique of Liberalism." His talk will explore prominent Native American intellectual Vine Deloria Jr.'s critiques of the civil rights movement and the foundational tenets of critical race theory from one of the movement’s founders, Derrick Bell.
