Physics - Mathematical and Theoretical Physics Seminar

AbstractUnderstanding quantum gravity in a closed universe is a long standing problem, where it is challenging even to discuss what questions are meaningful, particularly when thinking about dynamics. Indeed, most discussions are in the framework of dS/CFT where this is the case. I will suggest a way to think about this problem by defining a quantum system in de Sitter, and offer how to realize it in microscopic systems. We will test this proposal in a specific realization using SYK and compare to dynamical processes in de Sitter space, by comparing various correlation functions in a semiclassical limit.
