Rajib Saha Ph.D.

Assoc. Professor & Graduate Chair Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering

University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Title: Investigating Biological Systems with First Principle and Data-driven Modeling

Abstract: Systems Biology is relatively a new concept in which a systems level approach is needed in order to get a wholesome view of any biological system. This talk will highlight how metabolic modeling and ‘omics’ data exploration/integration, lately in combination with machine learning, can attempt to explore some of the important questions in biology ranging from stress or pathogenic response to the metabolic versatility.

Bio: Rajib Saha is the Richard L. and Carol S. McNeel Associate Professor and Graduate Program Chair in Chemical Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He earned his BS from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology and his MS and PhD from Penn State. He leads UNL’s Systems and Synthetic Biology Laboratory, researching non-model microbes, plants, and human diseases, supported by NIH, NSF, USDA. His awards include NIH MIRA, NSF CAREER, and multiple honors from UNL and Penn State.
